AND MY MOTHER CRIED, POETRY ANTHOLOGY

Imagine a world without beings powerful enough to grieve? There is pain that swallows light and warmth, and pain armored for century-long wars. And My Mother Cried invites poets to provide lessons in the harvest and weaponization of sorrow. Up to 5 poems per submission.

What We’re NOT Looking For:

  • Flowery, existential ramblings on the idea of grief

  • Instructional sermons on how to heal pain

Please Be Advised:

  • Documents must be formatted with double-spacing, 1-inch margins, and 12-point Times New Roman or Courier font. DO NOT include images, illustrations, or graphics. Submissions that do not meet these formatting requirements may be disqualified.

  • We do not censor submitted content, we ask only for honesty.

  • We DO NOT consider work that has been previously published.

  • Given our extensive review process, we DO NOT permit simultaneous submissions.

  • If we determine a phone interview will provide more context to your work, we will reach out by email first to schedule one.

  • DO NOT inquire about the status of your submission until 5 weeks after the closure of the submission form.
